The 80's are back... Patrick Nagel

Patrick Nagel was born in Ohio (EEUU) in 1945 and died of a heart attack in 1984 at the age of 38, but his art lives on.

He studied art at Chouinard Art Institute, and in 1969 received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from California State University at Fullerton.

After graduation, he began working as a free lance illustrator and a graphic designer for Architectural Digest, Harper’s Magazine, Rolling Stone, IBM, Universal Studios and, in 1976 he began contributing regularly to Playboy.

His work, which bridges the gap between traditional fine art and contemporary trends, has reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints and as well of Art Deco styling.

The Nagel woman is elegant and sophisticated, exuding an air of mysterious enticement.

He is as well known for his illustration for Duran Duran, for whom he designed the cover of the best selling album Rio.
